Welcome to IWRN16

18-22 September 2028

The environmental impact of railway noise and vibration remains an important challenge that requires further mitigation. Since the first IWRN, held in Derby, UK in 1976, this workshop series has become a well-established triennial event bringing together leading researchers and engineers working in all areas related to railway noise and vibration.

Over the years, the IWRN workshops have contributed significantly to the understanding and resolution of numerous problems in railway acoustics and vibration, thereby helping to establish the scientific foundations for reducing the environmental impact of airborne, ground-borne and structure-borne noise and vibration.

Following the tradition of previous editions, the scientific programme of IWRN16 will be organised as a single-session event over three and a half days.

IWRN16 will be held at the RNLI College, located in the coastal town of Poole in Dorset, UK. This the home of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity providing lifeboat services around Britain’s coast. The RNLI College exists principally to provide training for their lifeboat crews, but it is also available as an attractive, waterfront venue for conferences.

The call for papers will be launched in Summer 2027. More details will follow in due course.
